PRESENTATION SUMMARY

Over a century ago, Michelin was one of the very first companies to put air in a tire.  More recently, Michelin became the company that also took the air out of tires with the award-winning Michelin X-Tweel Airless Radial.  The company’s innovation cure is keeping pace with an era of extraordinary innovations in mobility – hybrid-electric automobiles evolving to full-electric autos, connected vehicles evolving to autonomous vehicles, passive roadway technologies evolving to active roadway technologies. 

How will the role of the tire, and the tire company, also evolve in this new mobility landscape?  Eric Chaniot, chief digital officer for Michelin Group, will explore the role of digitalization that assists and empowers the consumer at every stage of the journey.

ABOUT ERIC CHANIOT

Eric Chaniot is a dynamic and seasoned innovator who has worked in the technology sector for more than 20 years.

He began his career in the mid-1990s at Apple, where he was responsible for the first wireless notebook. He built on his expertise at another technology power player, Hewlett-Packard, where he created multiple product lines and was responsible for businesses in networking, personal computing, software and printing, which generated hundreds of millions of dollars for the company. Eric later created an Internet start-up in Europe that developed proprietary technology focused on making Internet ratings and reviews more reliable. He returned to the United States and applied his entrepreneurial expertise to Tire Intelligence, a data and software start-up. This company enabled tire manufacturers, tire distributors and tire dealers to manage their businesses more efficiently and to drastically improve their online presence. 

In June 2015, Eric sold Tire Intelligence and became the Chief Digital Officer for Michelin Group, where he is now responsible for accelerating Michelin’s worldwide digital transformation.
