Fabricio Leiva Ph.D., P.E.

Dr. Leiva is an experienced Civil Engineer with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education and pavement industry. Dr. Leiva received his M.S. (2007) and Ph.D. (2012) in Civil Engineering from Auburn University. His research expertise includes sustainable pavement materials, advanced asphalt materials characterization, accelerated pavement testing and instrumentation, pavement condition evaluation, and pavement construction. Dr. Leiva acquired his experience after working for NCAT-Auburn University for six years and University of Costa Rica for six years and industry for two years. Dr. Leiva has been involved in projects sponsored by federal and state transportation agencies such as FHWA, FAA, ALDOT, MDOT and private industry. Dr. Leiva’s research interests include low-carbon materials, asphalt characterization and performance, full-scale testing and pavement modeling. Dr. Leiva has over 60 publications in journals and peer-reviewed conference papers to date. Dr. Leiva’s industry experience includes construction quality control, materials laboratory management, pavement design and evaluation. Dr. Leiva is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.
