Presentation Summary

No one would argue that change is happening rapidly in the U.S. tire industry, from new tire manufacturers entering the market to consolidation among retail and commercial tire dealers and wholesale areas to how new technology is disrupting the way business is conducted.

This presentation will examine how the industry has changed over the past 10 years to help shed light on where the industry might be going tomorrow.

Meet the Presenter

Dave Zielasko has worked at Tire Business and Crain Communications Inc for more than 33 years, joining the privately held media company in 1985 as chief copy editor for Rubber & Plastics News.

After a short stint at RPN, Dave moved to Tire Business, then a fledgling Crain publication, where he became editor in January 1987, a position he held for three decades.

Dave was given the added title of Tire Business publisher in 1998 and a year later was named a vice president of Crain Communications.

In 2004, Crain named Dave publisher of Rubber & Plastics News and in 2017 appointed him publisher of European Rubber Journal. At that time, Dave stepped down as editor of Tire Business, retaining the title of editorial director.

In 2017, the Tire Industry Association presented Dave with the Ed Wagner Leadership Award.

Dave holds a bachelor's degree in biology/management from Marietta College and a master's degree in journalism from Ohio University. He is a past president of the Society of Professional Journalist's Akron Buckeye Chapter and a past president of the Western Reserve Academy Alumni Association.
