Director of State, Local Government & Community Relations
Michelin North America, Inc.
We have an opportunity to make our roads safer by passing legislation to make it illegal to install unsafe used tires on vehicles. Often times damage to a used tire is not visible to a consumer, so as a result the consumer is unaware of the condition of their used tire when purchasing it. The National Transportation Safety Board says about 11,000 tire-related crashes happen every year. Statistics show worn-out tires are three times more likely to be involved in a wreck than those with sufficient tread depth. This presentation will focus on the importance of the legislation and the opportunity to education our lawmakers.
